Busted!

Todd McFarlane is churning the rumor mill once again and trying to build hype for the newest rendition of his classic character returning to live-action film. That's right, he spoke up about writing the script for a Spawn film, again. Then, he added another juicy tidbit about an Oscar winning actor who phones him regularly about finishing the project so he can secure the starring role. This brings up the question..."Which Oscar winning actor is it?" "Do Todd McFarlane and Dan Aykroyd have the same publicist?"

So, it's 2013. And according to Dan Aykroyd, this is the year that Ghostbusters 3 goes into development (he's been saying that since 1988, I think). They've restarted the process shortly after Bill Murray supposedly shredded the first script.  As many of my loyal readers know, I'm very interested in the project. So much so that I provided casting ideas and an introductory script layout for Sony pictures and Dan Aykroyd to mull over for a bit until handing me a paycheck to finish out a script. Instead, I find out that they've hired other writers.  After almost a year of brewing ideas and thinking about cast members, I've decided to go somewhat a different route with the story and casting. So continue on reading if you want to read a fanboy's dream cast and story idea for Ghostbusters 3. If you aren't interested, turn off your computer and smash it on the ground because you do not deserve world wide access to the webs.

2012 ended. Like many, I have compiled a "Best of List" for 2012, but to be different, my list is about how things have changed in my life over the past year. Since I am still a self-proclaimed pop-culture guru, I will be recommending things like watching Looper (starring Hashtag JGL), The Avengers (Hulk smash box office), Sleepwalk with Me (based on Mike Birbiglia's book/life), 21 Jump Street (a good remake?), NBC's sitcom Go On (pronounced goon), and porn on the internet. I really hope Sony read my blog about Ghostbusters 3 before hiring this guy. I have some good ideas on how to approach the "re-quel." After looking at my cast ideas, I'd switch Chris Pratt and Donald Glover (he'll have more free time after the 13 episodes of Community are done thanks to NBC doing what they do best....staying in last place). Anywho, good news on the Ghostbusters 3 front unless you think about how writers were hired 4 years ago to do a script that inevitably was trashed (in Bill Murray's paper shredder if rumors are correct).

Venkman v. Stantz - Nobody wins.

If you didn't realize, I'm passionate about three things...Comic book movies, the Muppets, and the Ghostbusters (I'm passionate about a few other things...Dr. Pepper, Bacon, Ron Swanson, the demise of Whitney Cummings' career, my wife and family...pretty much in that order too).  Comic book movies have taken off beyond my wildest dreams. The Muppets returned to the big screen last fall, and it seems as if a sequel is going to happen. So that leaves the Ghostbusters.

According to Screen Rant, the National Inquirer reported that Bill Murray read the Ghostbusters 3 script, shredded it, and sent it back to Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis with a note saying, “No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts!” Read the article at this link and check below for my argument.
